Tour Plan
Day 1: Arrival in Tanzania – Kilimanjaro Airport → Moshi / Arusha
Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport, you will be welcomed by the Chaga Adventures team and transferred to your hotel in Moshi or Arusha.
In the evening, you’ll meet your mountain guide for a detailed pre-trek briefing. This includes an overview of the route, safety guidelines, and a full gear check to ensure you are well prepared for the climb.

Day 2: Marangu Gate (1,860m) → Mandara Hut (2,720m)
After breakfast, drive to Marangu Gate where registration formalities are completed. Your trek begins through the lush rainforest, home to diverse wildlife and unique vegetation.
The trail is well-established and offers a gentle introduction to the climb. You’ll arrive at Mandara Hut in the afternoon, where you can relax or take a short walk to Maundi Crater for scenic views.

Day 3: Mandara Hut → Horombo Hut (3,720m)
Today you leave the rainforest behind and enter the moorland zone. The landscape opens up with expansive views and distinctive alpine vegetation.
You’ll enjoy views of Kibo and Mawenzi peaks as you gradually ascend. The pace remains steady to help your body adjust to the increasing altitude.

Day 4: Horombo Hut – Acclimatization Day
This extra day is important for acclimatization and increasing your chances of reaching the summit.
You’ll take a short hike towards Zebra Rocks or Mawenzi Ridge, gaining altitude during the day before returning to Horombo Hut to rest. Your guides will also monitor your condition and provide support as needed.

Day 5: Horombo Hut → Kibo Hut (4,703m)
The trail continues into the alpine desert zone. You’ll cross the “Saddle,” a wide and barren landscape between Mawenzi and Kibo peaks.
The terrain becomes more rugged and temperatures drop. After arriving at Kibo Hut, you’ll have an early dinner and rest before your midnight summit attempt.

Day 6: Summit Day – Kibo Hut → Uhuru Peak (5,895m) → Horombo Hut
You’ll begin your summit attempt around midnight. This is the most challenging day of the trek, requiring determination and a steady pace.
After reaching Gilman’s Point, you’ll continue along the crater rim to Uhuru Peak — the highest point in Africa. After spending some time at the summit, you’ll descend back to Kibo Hut briefly, then continue down to Horombo Hut.

Day 7: Horombo Hut → Marangu Gate → Moshi / Arusha
After breakfast, descend through moorland and rainforest to Marangu Gate. Upon completion, you’ll receive your summit certificate.
You will then be transferred back to your hotel for rest and recovery.
